Word families (also known as phonograms or chunks) can really help students by providing some predictable patterns within words.

Phonograms help us when we try to decode new words. 

Once students become familiar with the most familiar chunks/phonograms, they can use them to decode over 500 words!!!

This is a lovely pre-school game to help teach colours and the names of the colors.

Teaches 11 Colours - green / red / blue / white / black / purple / brown / pink / yellow / grey / orange

  • 11 flash cards with just the words printed. (I usually keep these on a 'ring' as shown to give you an idea of how to store them.)

The object of the game is to make a 'train' of matching colors/color words using all the dominoes.
